Frequently Asked Questions

Ergonomic Kinder Hop Carriers ensure appropriate baby position and you can use them with babies weighing from 3.5 to 20 kg (according to European standards).

Multi Grow and Grow Air Carriers with adjustable panel width and height (link here) fit babies since the first months of their life.

Standard Basic Carrier, which is not adjustable, is intended for 6-8-month-old babies (at least 74 size of clothes).

Kinder Hop encourages you to start babywearing after your baby is able to hold their head up on their own, not earlier.

The carrier makes the baby inside sit, it means that this little body, which is not fully shaped and strong enough to sit on its own, is forced to do it. Although it won’t harm the baby during short walks, longer distances can cause side effects.

Out of convenience, more and more often parents choose carriers for a few-month-old babies. Carrier manufacturers suggest this as well.

Kinder Hop claims that the choice is always made by a parent. Sometimes a life situation (e.g. lots of responsibilities, big family), living conditions (e.g. no elevator) or health problems (e.g. arm paresis, moving on a wheelchair) leave no other choice.

If there is the need to use a carrier for a little baby, it’s worth waiting until the baby is able to hold the head up on their own – then you can use an adjustable Multi Grow carrier with an implemented lower buckle fastening placed near the hip belt – such solution tucks baby’s pelvis inside, c-shapes the back while relieving the spine, which is a maximally correct, safe and natural position.

a) Choose Basic carrier without an adjustment system if:

- your baby wears at least 74 size of clothes

- sits on their own

- gains weight pretty quickly

- you’re looking for a carrier for an older child or heavier baby

- you prefer long walks

- you suffer from spine problems

- your baby is petite

- you’re looking for a solution for a baby since the first months of their life

- you have two children of different age and you’d like to babywear both of them

- you’d like a carrier for an older child or a heavier baby

- you prefer long walks

- you suffer from spine problems

c) Choose a breathable Grow Air Adjustable Carrier with lower buckle fastening if:

- your choice criteria are like the ones listed above in point b)

- you’re looking for a solution for hot days – thanks to a sewed-in mesh the back of your baby won’t get sweaty

- you’re looking for a one-size-fits-all solution for the summer and colder seasons (the set includes a cover which is in the carrier color, it’s detachable by snaps and covers the mesh if there’s such need)

Multi Grow and Grow Air Carriers are equipped with smooth adjustment system that allows the carrier to ‘grow’ with your baby and serve them since first months of their life until they are about 3 years old (104-110 size of clothes).

Basic Carrier has an option of adjusting the panel length with seat extenders available in our shop. Without the extenders the carrier is appropriate for about 2-2.5-year-old child (92/98 size of clothes), with extenders – for a 3-4-year-old (up to 104-110 size of clothes).

A carrier is like a special backpack for a child. The difference is that in the carrier there’s parent’s body on one side and carrier panel on the other side, which creates the space for a baby. The sewed-in hip belt relieves the spine since the majority of baby’s weight is distributed onto it.

In order to address your doubts and clarify the way you should put on and adjust Kinder Hop Carrier, we’ve prepared a detailed ‘Step by Step’ User Guide for you.

First time for you and your baby with a carrier can be quite a challenge. Kinder Hop has a few helpful tips for you to make babywearing friendly and nice experience for both of you.

  1. Why don’t you practice with a teddy bear or a doll beforehand and show what the carrier is for?
  2. Let your baby get familiar with the carrier, touch it and play with it before wearing it.
  3. Remain calm. During the first tries distract your baby: give them a ‘forbidden’ thing (like a remote or keys)
  4. keep swaying side to side during putting the carrier on, make a funny face in the mirror, try to entertain your baby or ask someone else to help you. After putting the carrier on
  5. go outside quickly (it can be another room or a balcony) and show your little one something interesting there.
